Jamaican act Dexta Daps has made headlines in Uganda for his dance moves, lyrics in his songs have been widely circulated and some artistes in the country have recently been banned for being accused of singing dirty songs.

The show took place on Saturday, December 14. It was organized by Uganda Waragi. It featured various prominent artists in Uganda including Vinka, Azawi, Elijah Kitaka and others.

The headliner at the show was Dexta Daps. This man, before performing in this country, first spoke to many because of the pictures he posted on social media with girls wearing bikinis known as 'bikinis', who were friendly.

In the show itself, he left the story because of his performance on the dance floor. The man, apart from his songs being accused of containing scandalous words, was also accused of making scandals on the dance floor.

The 38-year-old man went to the dance with a girl named Rita Danchall, and they did something that didn't please some. They danced in a different manner where this man appeared to beat him, as if they were throwing a bar; in other places they are seen doing what looks like kissing and other activities that have caused some to cover their faces.

In addition to this, there was a scene where this girl came to the dance wearing handcuffs and danced in a way that surprised many.

These things made some people remember the last Levis show in Uganda. It is a concert that took place on August 24, 2024, at the Serena Hotel in Kampala. It was directed by Zuba Mutesi in collaboration with Timothy CODE.

This show made many people go crazy from the girls who danced with Ya Levis, touched him and behaved in a strange way.

Others struggled to dance with him so much so that it took those who had the courage to succeed. Those who saw him would stay where they were instead of joining him on the dance floor.

The show went off without a hitch and many took to social media to express what happened.

The Jamaican's performance angered some leaders including MP Mwesigye Frank.

He wrote on X and pointed out that it was not appropriate for the things these artists have done in this country to be criticized, while there are artists who have been banned for days and accused of singing dirty songs.

He wrote, “It's funny how some powerful people in our country are quick to condemn the songs of Gravity Omutujju and Lil Pazo, calling them artists who sing atrocity.”

He continued, “However, some people are silent when foreign artists visit us and do scandalous things on the dance floor live. Dexta Daps and Ya Levis are singers who sing songs filled with scandalous lyrics in the world.”

He said that maybe people can pretend that they don't understand the languages these artists sing in but it is easy for Dexta because he sings in English.
