20 lawyers, including the Kenyan who became the Minister of Justice, Martha Karua, were pushed behind the court door when they went to defend Dr Kizza Besigye in the case where he is accused of trying to overthrow the government of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

On this Monday, Dr Besigye was to be brought to court accompanied by 50 lawyers including Ugandans and Kenyans who all joined together and chose to be led by Martha Karua.

Dr Besigye's wife, Winnie Byanyima through the X wall announced that Martha Karua who was at the main gates of the court, was robbed of her purse by Chinese security.

He said, “It took a lot of discussion, the security guards called their superiors to get his bag back.

Now more than 20 lawyers including Martha Karua have been arrested outside the court.

It ended up that some of those lawyers were allowed to enter safely but Karua, who is leading the team of Dr Besigye's lawyers, was not given documents that would allow him to work in Uganda.

Karua has applied for documents to work in Uganda temporarily as a lawyer who will lead 50 others in the case of Dr Kizza Besigye. Dr Besigye was arrested when he was in Kenya, one day before he attended the Martha Karua book launch ceremony and was immediately taken to Uganda, where he will be tried by a military court.

The Ugandan government accuses Dr Kizza Besigye and Lutale of possessing weapons while the only authorized ones are security guards.
