President Suluhu has announced the replacement of the deceased Ndugulile at the head of WHO Africa

The President of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu Hassan has expressed that he has nominated Prof. Mohamed Janabi as a candidate for the leadership of the Department of WHO in Africa (WHO Africa), after the death of Dr. Faustine Ndugulile was elected to this position.

 Dr. Faustine Ndugulile, who was originally from Tanzania, passed away in November days after being appointed to lead WHO Africa. It is the time that he had dedicated himself to the Rwandan Dr. Richard vows.

 Days after this happened, President Suluhu announced that he has chosen a candidate to replace Dr Faustine Ndugulile. He returned to it during the swearing-in ceremony of the new leaders, which took place in Zanzibar.

 He told Prof Mohamed Janabi who was present at the ceremony that he was the one who chose it. 

He said, “I'm going to tell you a secret today.

 We went through many profiles, We had profiles of about five of your colleagues and we decided that yours should be sent to OMS, we are preparing you for that position, when you will join the competition, from now on prepare yourself.”

It was planned that before Dr. Ndugule begins his five-year term, which was initially approved by the WHO's executive board in February 2025, which will meet in Switzerland.

 It is the responsibility that he had to replace Dr. Matshidiso Moeti from Botswana, who has been the head of the WHO Africa Division since February 2015.
