The President of
France, Emmanuel Macron, continues to press for the appointment of a new Prime
Minister to replace Michel Barnier, after the government he was leading lost
confidence.
President Macron
held talks with the leaders of various parties to discuss the new Prime
Minister who should be appointed very soon, as announced by the Speaker of the
National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet.
After the
Parliament lost confidence in Michel Barnier, pressure continued to grow on
Macron to step down, or hold early elections, but the man refused, saying that
he intends to continue his duties until the end of his term.
The new Prime
Minister must form a new government that must immediately take important
measures, including in particular the approval of the budget.
