Max Verstappen,
who was punished for doing public service and doing it in Rwanda, completed his
punishment on Thursday, December 13, 2024.
Before
Verstappena was awarded as the 2024 Formula 1 champion, he met with young
racing enthusiasts organized by the Rwanda Racing Association (RAC).
The player, who
has driven this race four times, talked to the children, including the makers
of the Karting racing car, and also asked him questions related to his
experience.
The president of
the International Motor Racing Association (FIA), Mohammed Ben Sulayem, said
that when he informed the player that he would serve the punishment in Rwanda,
he was very happy because he likes to support young people.
In his speech,
Verstappen reminded children that they shouldn't give up on their dreams and
that he himself worked hard to achieve them.
"The most
important thing is to be determined and work hard, whether you're a boy or a
girl, to be a good player at the highest level," he said.
When asked when
he will return to Rwanda, Verstappen replied that it depends on the schedule
they have and he has nothing to do with it, but he said that he could be
brought by the race.
The president of
the Rwanda Racing Association (RAC), Gakwaya Christian, who welcomed him and
introduced him to the children, assured him that in the coming years it would
be possible.
Gakwaya gave this
hope after President Kagame submitted Rwanda's candidacy to host Formula One.
The punishment
for the Dutchman came from using inappropriate language and pushing the press
during an interview with them at the Singapore Grand Prix.
