A Rwandan medical researcher, Uwishema Olivier won an award from the British Empire as a young person who continues to do important work in the development of the medical field.

 

It is an award called the 'Diana Award' named after the Princess of England, Diana who was the first wife of King Charles III, and who is the mother of Princes William and Harry.

 

These awards include different categories such as those of young people who fight for the protection of the environment, health, development of education, dealing with climate change and others. It is given to young people from different parts of the world who contribute to the development of the people.

 

First, a list of contestants is selected, then important arbitrators are invited in each category and evaluate each of the contestants' work, and the winners and others are notified.

 

It is a tribute and is in memory of Princess Diana. His son Prince Harry said that his mother believed that young people have the power to fight for positive change, something that continues to be her focus to this day.

 

Prince Harry thanked all the awardees, expressing his pride in seeing their life-changing work continue.

Uwishema recipient of the award for his work through the non-profit Oli Health Magazine Organization, OHMO, said that being recognized at this level and receiving the award is a great step forward.

It is in addition to the other awards that this health expert has won, where in 2024 Uwishema won the international expert award, given by the American Institute of Neurology, which he won in 2022.

 
In 2023, he was included in the Forbes list of 30 people under 30 in the field of medicine and research, who continue to develop this field significantly.

 
It follows the UN award as one of the world's 10 young scientists contributing to the fight against Covid-19, which was awarded in 2020.

 
Proudly said, “I am very grateful to everyone who helped me in this journey. It's a journey I started six years ago. I never thought that one day maybe I would receive an international award that recognizes my work in motivating young people to be active in the field of health promotion. But what was a dream continues to be a reality.”

 

 

Uwishama has published more than 100 research papers in the world's leading health journals such as The Lancet. He has exhibited in various countries including the United States of America, South Korea, Germany, France, England, Spain and others.

 
Through the program called OHMO Global Research Fellowship, which is open to everyone in the world, it has helped more than 5,000 people in the field of medicine and health.

 
Since its inception in 2018, OHMO has more than 20,000 members, mostly medical students, medical professionals, nurses and midwives, pharmacists and other health professionals.

 
They also include those from Lebanon, Nigeria, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Malawi, South Africa, South Korea, Georgia, Greece, Canada, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, etc.
