Robot at the New York University School of Medicine, asked a 57-year-old woman named Cheryl Mehrkar, and put in another lung.

Specialist in heart and lung surgery in this hospital, Dr. Stephanie H. Chang, explained that the date of October 22, 2024 is when she led this robot in this process.

The doctor explained that he made a small incision between Cheryl's ribs, and the robot removed the damaged lung and replaced it with a healthy one. This process took about seven hours.

Cheryl started having respiratory problems 15 years after she started teaching karate. In 2010, doctors told him that he has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease known as COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease).

In 2022, when Cheryl contracted Covid-19, her condition worsened to the point where she needed a ventilator. He was immediately put on the list of those in need of an organ transplant.

Cheryl says that her robotic surgery has allowed her to recover quickly and is ready to return to her normal life, although she won't be doing as much exercise as before.

He hopes to return to the work he once loved as a volunteer at the Firefighters Association.
