A commercial building in the city of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, known as Kariakoo, was crowded with people in the late hours of Saturday, after it collapsed due to the expansion work that was going on.
Since Friday morning, work has begun on the expansion of a four-storey building in the Kariakoo commercial area.
As the work continued, the building collapsed, and the occupants were overwhelmed.
The police and other security agencies immediately rushed to help, only to be faced with the obstacle of a crowd of people who were there, mainly those who complained about the fact that the house was being bought for people to work in.
Business in the area has come to a standstill as rescue operations continue to unearth those who were hit by the bricks.
The number of people affected by the distribution is not yet known.
