RwandAir has launched flights to Harare in Zimbabwe using its cargo aircraft. The southern African country has added seven more destinations that the company already operates in.
RwandAir cargo flights also fly to Brazzaville in Congo, Nairobi in Kenya, Dubai and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, Entebbe in Uganda, Djibouti and Bangui in the Central African Republic. Adhoc method without pre-planning.
In a statement through X, RwandAir stated that this step is a proof of how it has been established and improved communication methods in different parts of the world.
"It is also a way to promote business and continue to take a leading position in helping those in the District to transport their goods."
In November 2022, RwandAir bought its first cargo plane, which helped a lot since the company was already using regular passenger planes for cargo transport.
The Boeing B737-8SF has a payload capacity of at least 23,904 tons, and can travel 2,620 miles without problems and at a lower cost than other cargo carriers. It is 39.5 meters long, 35.8 meters from wing to wing and 12.6 meters tall. The purchase of the Boeing B737-8SF was followed by another move to develop air cargo transportation on May 4, 2024 through a partnership between RwandAir and Qatar Airways.
At that time, Qatar Airways delivered a large Boeing 777x plane to Rwanda, with the aim of turning Kigali into a cargo hub, Kigali Cargo Hub. Cargo transportation has developed Rwanda a lot, where in 2023/2024 Rwanda earned $839,212,099 (over 1,139 billion Frw) from $857,226,944 (over 1,163 billion Frw) it had earned in 2022/2023, from for agriculture and livestock exports that RwandAir is involved in.
