The Ministry of Health announced that for the first time since the Marburg disease appeared in Rwanda, on October 3, 2024, the first five patients who recovered and were discharged from the hospital should return to normal life.
It was announced in the daily news published by the Ministry regarding the status of the epidemic, where it announced that apart from the five rich people, no one died of the disease on October 3.
Among the 1009 new measurements taken, one patient was found to be in addition to the others, bringing the total number of patients under medical attention to 21.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Nsanzimana Sabin, through X, again gave hope of victory in Marburg, saying "Today there are five. Tomorrow they will return and they will be fine. Let's take this opportunity to thank those who left. Marburg we will win."
Health authorities say that a person can be infected with Marburg for between three and 21 days without showing symptoms.
The onset is similar to that of other diseases, especially Malaria, sudden high fever, severe headache, joint pain, muscle aches and can even lead to cuts and scrapes.
It's just that as the days go by the symptoms change as the body deteriorates.
Medical experts believe that patients who are treated early can recover, but there is a risk of death between 26% and 89%.
The way to prevent it is to strengthen hygiene measures and avoid sharing equipment with someone who has symptoms similar to those of this disease.
All Rwandans are advised to be alert and find out if they have symptoms of this disease and go to the doctor to have another place to infect them.
