The armed group of RED Tabara and the Burundian army clashed again on November 26, 2024, after the fierce fighting in the province of South Kivu in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

RED Tabara announced that it carried out a major attack on the Burundian military base of Rubwebwe Tawundi on November 25, killing nine soldiers including the commanding colonel and his deputy.

The group's spokesperson, Patrick Nahimana, said: “On Tuesday, November 25, 2024 at 9:00 p.m., RED Tabara carried out an extensive attack on the FDNB headquarters in Rubwebwe Tawundi. At least nine officers died, including the colonel in charge of the center and his deputy."

The group explained that they took a lot of weapons of the Burundian army, including machine guns of caliber 50, grenade launchers, AK47s, communication devices and documents of the officers who run this center.

Nahimana revealed on social media the weapons, ammunition and communication equipment that RED Tabara took away from the Burundian army during the fighting in Rubwebwe Tawundi.

The Burundian military announced that what RED Tabara reported was false, and that Nahimana, who speaks for this group, has been lying every time their fighters have been defeated.

It was expected to soon show its captured warriors. It said: “Don't give credit to the content of this crazy ad. Soon, the FDNB will present to them the testimonies of the Red Tabara fighters who were captured and surrendered to our troops in the battlefield.”

On October 26, 2024, RED Tabara announced that they had killed 45 Burundian soldiers in the fighting in the Itombwe mountains, including Lieutenant Colonel Simon Nyandwi, but the Burundian army called it a lie.

On November 9, 2024, RED Tabara announced that it had killed about 20 Burundian soldiers, in the fighting that took place in the area of Kirumbi, Kabundagwami and Kibandangoma.
