President Paul Kagame received the Director of the United Nations Development Organization (UNDP) at the African level, Ahunna Eziakonwa, and they discussed the development of various projects including YouthConnect and Timbuktoo.
This leader is in Rwanda where he participated in the Youth Connect Africa 2024 conference that is being held in Rwanda.
A message published by the President's office, Village Urugwiro, announced that President Kagame had discussions with this leader on various topics.
It goes on to say that "President Kagame received Ahunna Aziakonwa, UNDP Deputy Director and Head of Africa, to discuss the development of YouthConnect and Timbuktoo, which was conceived by UNDP to support projects that are developing in Africa."
At the Youth Connect Africa meeting, President Kagame expressed the need to put effort into building the way young people are cared for, whether in education or elsewhere.
He said, "We have numbers [a lot of young people], what we need now is to build the capacity of those numbers, we have to put effort into our systems to attract young people, whether it's education or elsewhere."
"Often there are things we ignore, we provide education, take care of their health, and encourage them to participate in their development and the country, but there must also be a spirit that makes everything go well."
Ahunna Eziakonwa thanked the participants of Youth Connect Africa 2024, saying that the reason why dignitaries attended is because they know the importance of this meeting and consider the youth as the future of Africa.
He pointed out that as long as Africa does not put effort into embracing the potential of the youth as it should be, it will always be He said, "If we do not take care to implement the means to give the youth the necessary skills, we will continue to see Africa lose its values and its resources in the eyes of others... Africans, young girls and boys, have the ability to govern themselves and determine their future, therefore, you should never leave the place where you are sitting with others feeling that you are not capable."
On the other hand, Timbuktoo is a project of the Department of the United Nations Development Organization, UNDP, which aims to promote investment activities in Africa. This fund is based in Rwanda.
UNDP is Rwanda's partner in the fight against poverty, where it helps people in creating profitable jobs, climate protection activities through building clean houses, helping people achieve justice, strengthening democracy and good governance, etc.
