Bobi Ladawa, the wife of Mobutu Sese Seko who led Zaire (Democratic Republic of the Congo: RDC) has confirmed that she is willing to return to her country, but first she will be given a house because she does not want to live in a shelter.

Bobi Ladawa, who has been living in Morocco since 1997 when her husband was overthrown, said that as long as she is guaranteed a house in Congo, she will return.

He announced this to the Prime Minister of that country, Judith Suminwa, who visited him on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

He said, “I told the Prime Minister that when I return to Kinshasa, I want to stay in my house. I don't want to stay with my family or in a hotel.”

Ladawa, 80, was Mobutu's wife for 17 years until 1997 when Mobutu was ousted from power. They then fled to Morocco, where her husband landed in September 1997, where he is still buried.

Mobutu ruled Zaire for 32 years.
