Rigathi Gachagua, who was recently appointed as the Vice President of Kenya, has left the hospital accusing President William Ruto of conspiracy and trying to harm him.
Gachagua was taken to the hospital on Thursday, October 17, where he reportedly suffered chest pains.
That was the day he had to appear in the Senate, to explain himself about the 11 crimes he was accused of that led to his removal from the position he had held for two years. Even though Gachagua was in the hospital, it did not stop the Senate from confirming his impeachment, but later the court asked for a stay and first examine whether his impeachment was transparent.
This Sunday Gachagua spoke to the media after being released from hospital, insisting that President William Ruto had betrayed him.
He said, “I believed in President William Ruto, the people of Mount Kenya believed in him.
When we preached, no one else believed in him except me because we are all Christians. I knew that my fellow Christian could not lie to me.”
Gachagua seemed to regret what made him agree to work with William Ruto, pointing out that all his experiences contributed to it.
Kenyan MP Beguje Gachagua has been accused of wrongdoing including divisiveness, disrespecting William Ruto, embezzlement and more.
It was confirmed by the Senate even though the Supreme Court had stopped the implementation of that decision.
Gachagua also said that while he was in the hospital, he was shocked when his bodyguards were taken from him, saying that his life was in danger.
He said that when he was in the hospital, people close to President Ruto kept asking him if he was dead.
Gachagua belongs to the Kikuyu tribe, which is considered to be the largest population in Kenya, which is why William Ruto approached him when he campaigned to lead Kenya in 2022.
President William Ruto belongs to the Kalenjin tribe, which is one of the five most populous ethnic groups in Kenya.
