The Electoral Commission of Mozambique has unequivocally announced that Daniel Chapo of the ruling Frelimo party won the last presidential election on October 9, 2024.

The Commission announced that Chapo received 4.9 million votes, equal to 70.6% of the voters, Venancio Mandlane of the Podemos party received 20.32% of the votes, equal to 1.4 million people, Ossufo Momade of Renamo has 5.81%, and Lutero Simango of MDM has 3.21%.

Chapo's candidacy was clearly supported by the President of Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, because he accompanied him while campaigning in different provinces of the country.

He is a politician who usually follows the line of President Nyusi, especially for cooperation with Rwanda in fighting terrorist activities in the province of Cabo Delgado.

When Chapo campaigned in Cabo Delgado, he told the local people that he would increase efforts to restore peace and security there, and do everything possible to restore important projects that were being done there.

Chapo's victory will be confirmed irrevocably by the Mozambican Council for the Protection of the Constitution. It is the body that has the final say on the results of the elections.
