More than half of the parties that existed in Guinea Conakry have been dissolved and others are being suspended, after a review conducted in recent days revealed problems of governance.
Of the 174 countries that have been audited, about 50 have been suspended and another 50 are still under review.
Some of the problems they found include the fact that it was established in violation of the law and lack of regulations, lack of known sources of funds and mixed management.
Suspended parties were given three months to correct their wrongdoings, and get the suspension. Among the banned parties are that of former President Alpha Condé and other prominent dissidents such as Cellou Alain and Sidya Touré.
Some people said that this is the way Mamadi Doumbouya, who is leading the country in transition, is using, that those who could hinder him in the elections are sidelined.
