Former Bolivian President Evo Morales jumped to his death this Sunday, after his car was shot by unidentified assailants. Footage posted on his Facebook page shows Morales talking on the phone inside his car next to the driver, after which gunshots can be heard.
His driver was shot and wounded but Morales was not. Morales said his car was hit with 14 bullets.
A statement accompanying the video said Morales was on his way to work on Sunday when his car was run over by two others in the central Bolivian city of Shinahota.
He said people wearing face masks got out of the cars and started shooting at Morales' car.
Morales served as President of Bolivia from 2006 to 2019 when he was overthrown.
As of 2020 Bolivia is led by Luis Arce, a former close friend of Morales
