US Secretary of
State Antony Blinken has arrived in Israel, where he plans to ask the country
to end the war in the Gaza Strip.
Blinken arrives
in Israel at a time when its military is fighting the armed groups Hamas and
Hezbollah, which it describes as a threat to the country's security.
As he left the
US, he said, "I am on my way to Israel and other parts of the Middle East
to discuss the importance of ending the war in Gaza, returning prisoners to
their families and easing the suffering of the Palestinian people."
Al Jazeera
reported that Blinken's visit to Israel was followed by heightened fears as Ben
Gurion International Airport was temporarily closed after Hezbollah launched a
small missile attack on the city of Tel Aviv.
It is planned
that Blinken will meet with the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu,
and other senior leaders in this country, who have an important role in this
war.
He is not only
talking to the Israeli authorities about the cessation of hostilities, because
on October 23, 2024, Blinken plans to visit Jordan and discuss with the local
authorities how to help those who fled the conflict in Gaza.
According to the
Ministry of Health in Gaza, since October 2023, more than 42,000 people in this
region have died in the attacks of the Israeli army.
The Ministry of
Health of Lebanon also says that since October 2023, more than 2,500 people
have died in attacks by the Israeli army in this country.
While Israel is
carrying out these attacks, it reminds that it was provoked by Hamas that
entered its territory that month, killing more than 1100 people, and more than
250 others were kidnapped.
