The women's teams of APR WBBC and REG WBBC have secured their spots in the playoff finals after strong performances in the semifinals.
On the evening of October 2nd, both teams advanced to the final after defeating their opponents, Kepler WBBC and GS Marie Reine, respectively, with a 3-0 sweep in the series.
In accordance with the playoff rules, the teams were to compete in a best-of-five series, with the first to win three games moving to the final.
Kepler WBBC, participating in its debut season in the first division of the Rwandan basketball league, was eliminated in the semifinals by REG WBBC, losing all three games. REG dominated the first match with a score of 107-45. In the second game on September 29th, REG won 78-51, and the final match ended 70-56, ensuring REG’s place in the final with a clean 3-0 victory.
Similarly, APR WBBC faced GS Marie Reine and also swept the series 3-0. The first game, held on September 27th, saw APR win 96-65. The second game on September 29th ended 61-37, and the third match concluded with APR winning 86-45.
With both teams advancing, APR WBBC and REG WBBC will meet in the finals, which are scheduled to begin on Friday, October 5th, at the Petit Stade. This marks the third consecutive time these two teams will face off in the final, with APR WBBC having won the previous championship.
