The Rwandan National Mountain Bike Team has departed for Cameroon to participate in the Grand Prix International Chantal Biya, which will be held over two days on 7-8 August 2026.
On 4 August 2026, the Rwandan team comprising Banzi Buhari, who will compete in the professional and under-23 category; Ntakirutimana Marthe, who will compete in the professional women’s category; Iragena Charlotte, who will compete in the under-23 category; and coach Byukusenge Nathan, who was presented with the flag before departing for Cameroon. This is the third time that the Grand Prix International Chantal Biya (Chantal Biya International Mountain Bike Race) will be held in Bagofit and Bertoua in Eastern Cameroon.
The Grand Prix International Chantal Biya is a cycling race named after the wife of Cameroonian President Paul Biya, Chantal Biya, which began in 2001 and is one of the most prestigious races in Africa. The most popular road race will be held between September 2 and September 6, 2026.
