Meeting in Egypt on Saturday, the ministers of Egypt and Turkey, found themselves in full agreement concerning Israeli’s plan. Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s foreign minister, denounced the Israeli plan to ultimately take control of the entire Gaza Strip, calling it an “inadmissible plan”.
His Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, used equally firm language: “We need to speak about this openly. Israel’s goal is to ‘de-Palestinize’ Gaza. It wants to turn Gaza into a place where Palestinians no longer live, replacing them with its own permanent settlers”
Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Fox News in an interview on Thursday that Israel would allegedly aim to seize full control of the Gaza Strip, where it has been waging a devastating war for nearly two years. The first step, he said, would be to take Gaza City.
Reports suggest the Israeli Security Cabinet approved the move on Friday, though it did not clearly state whether this would mean capturing the entire territory.
