Nigerian international footballer Tosin Adarabioyo has been honoured with the prestigious Africa Illustrious Award by My Media Africa. The recognition comes in celebration of his historic achievement as the first Nigerian to win the new FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea FC.
Adarabioyo was presented with the “Award of Excellence and Special Recognition” on Wednesday at the Lagos office of the organisers. The award celebrates his outstanding contribution to Chelsea’s global triumph, where he played in four matches and scored one goal during the tournament.
Speaking after receiving the award, the former Manchester City defender expressed his gratitude and pride.“I am very proud to have received this award, and it will go down in history. I’m happy that I played a great part in winning the trophy, and I will strive to do more in writing my name in illustrious ways to attract an award like this,” he said.
The Africa Illustrious Award, organised by My Media Africa, a Pan-African media group, recognises individuals who are making a significant impact across the continent in areas such as sports, leadership, business, innovation, and the arts.Currently in Lagos for the off-season break, Adarabioyo remains a significant example for young Africans who dream of making their mark on the global stage.
