The United States has launched a new task force aimed at stopping birth tourism — the practice where foreign nationals travel to the US primarily to give birth and secure American citizenship for their children. According to the State Department, the Birth Tourism Prevention Task Force has already revoked more than 600 visas worldwide. The move follows executive orders signed by President Donald Trump directing authorities to deny or revoke visas and take action against individuals who enter the US mainly to give birth. Officials say the task force will review visa and travel histories, identify suspected cases, and target networks that profit from arranging birth tourism. The State Department noted that some operators offer visa coaching, accommodation, and hospital arrangements, while allegedly helping clients hide the real purpose of their travel. Authorities warned that foreigners who deliberately misrepresent their travel plans could be permanently barred from receiving a US visa or entering the country.
