Rwandan goalkeeper Muhawenayo Gad has agreed a deal with Malaysian Premier League side Kuching City after parting ways with Marines FC, for whom he had signed without playing a single game. Muhawenayo will fly to Malaysia on Sunday, August 9, 2026, to begin his new contract.
Muhawenayo rose to prominence during his time with Musanze FC and was capped by the Rwandan national team on several occasions. He left Musanze FC for Gorilla FC in the summer of 2024 before parting ways with the club this summer. After parting ways with Gorilla FC, Muhawenayo trained with Marine FC and was later announced as their new player before the two sides held talks and parted ways amicably.
In the 2025/26 season, Muhawenayo played 16 matches for Gorilla FC, finishing 6 of them goalless. Kuching City FC, the club that Muhawenayo joined, was founded in 2015 and was promoted to the top division in Malaysia in 2023. In the 2025/26 season, the team finished second out of 13 teams behind Johor Darul Ta’zim, who won the title.
