Morocco Start AFCON in Style With 2–0 Win Over Comoros

Morocco began their Africa Cup of Nations journey on a high note, sealing a comfortable 2–0 win against Comoros after a dazzling opening ceremony.Away from the pitch, the excitement spilled into the streets as supporters celebrated long after the final whistle.

“Moroccans truly love football,” one excited fan told Africanews. “This country lives for the game. It was an amazing experience. It was my first time watching a match inside a stadium, and it was unforgettable. Even the rain couldn’t dampen our energy.”

However, not everyone was completely satisfied with the team’s display.“We still need to sharpen our play and movement,” another supporter noted. “The striker didn’t have enough support or options. Yes, we won, but against stronger sides like Nigeria or Senegal, this level won’t be enough.”

The AFCON festivities are just getting underway. The Atlas Lions have made a strong start to their campaign, but as one of the tournament favourites, the pressure is already building. Morocco will be hoping this is the year they finally lift the trophy for the first time since 1976.
