DR Congo warplanes and drones have been launched at areas inhabited by the Mulenge people in South Kivu Province.
Opposition politician Moïse Nyarugabo said the first drone attack took place in the Rugezi area of Fizi territory at 5:00 p.m. on December 15, 2025.
A Sukhoi-25 aircraft attacked in the Rwitsankuku area, then continued to Gahwera and Mikenke, where it also fired. All of these attacks killed many civilians and injured others.
These attacks follow another Sukhoi-25 attack in Rwitsankuku on the morning of December 14. The aircraft and drones are believed to be from Burundi.
Nyarugabo said that those who ordered these attacks, including the pilots and airport controllers from which these planes originate, should be held accountable.
Air and drone attacks in areas of South Kivu Province inhabited by the Banyamulenge have intensified since last week after the AFC/M23 defeated Burundian, DRC, Wazalendo and FDLR forces in the Rusizi Valley.
