Gen Muganga signed an agreement with his Egyptian counterpart

The Chief of Defence Staff of the Rwandan Armed Forces, Gen Mubarakh Muganga, has signed a bilateral cooperation agreement with his Egyptian counterpart, Lt Gen Ahmed Fathi Ibrahim Khalifa.

Gen Muganga traveled to Egypt to attend the country's fourth military exhibition, which will be held from December 1, 2025.

The exhibition was attended by representatives of African and Asian countries in the Middle East region. It showcases modern technology, equipment and defense systems used on land, sea and air.

On December 2, the Rwandan Defence Office explained that before signing the agreements, Gen Muganga and Lt Gen Khalifa first discussed ways to strengthen military cooperation between the two countries.

In June 2025, Lt Gen Khalifa paid a three-day visit to Rwanda, where he was received by Gen Muganga. At that time, they discussed further expanding cooperation between the militaries of the two countries.
The traditional military cooperation between the two countries builds on the foundation laid by President Paul Kagame and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt.

In 2017, Sisi visited Rwanda, and in September 2025, President Kagame visited Egypt, reinforcing the long-standing good relations between the two sides.
