Rwanda’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Harerimana Fatou, has been awarded the ‘Global Ambassador Award’ for her leadership in promoting good relations between Rwanda and Pakistan.
Amb Harerimana is the first ambassador to represent Rwanda in Pakistan.
The Diplomat Insight wrote that she has strived to expand cooperation in trade, investment, education, health, tourism, cooperation between the two countries’ parliaments, and has prioritized Rwanda’s role in the development of the East African region.
The Diplomat Insight Group presented the award on November 26, 2026, saying that Ambassador Harerimana’s work has promoted innovation, women, people-to-people cooperation, among others.
“He has championed partnerships that aim to achieve shared economic growth, shared values and innovative solutions, and is known for promoting sustainability and prioritizing national development and diplomacy.”
Amb. Fatou Harerimana previously represented Rwanda in Tanzania and Seychelles.
Amb. Harerimana has extensive political experience, having served as a Senator, Commissioner of the National Electoral Commission and in various other capacities.
These awards are presented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on behalf of the people of Pakistan, to recognize individuals who have dedicated themselves to their duties and gone above and beyond the call of duty.
They aim to promote cooperation and strengthen people-to-people diplomacy and partnerships for sustainable development.
They are given to individuals in various categories, including the ‘Diplomatic Excellence’ award, which is given to ambassadors who have excelled in promoting good political relations between countries, high-level dialogue and trust between their countries and Pakistan.
Awards are also given to diplomats and business leaders who have addressed critical issues in the field of trade, and created business opportunities between the two countries, those who have promoted cooperation and development between the two countries, and corporate governance and investment awards are given to senior executives of private companies or those with technology that demonstrates a contribution to the development of Pakistan.
