The United Nations Security Council has approved a US proposal to deploy an international peacekeeping force to Gaza and to prepare a framework for a Palestinian state after two years of fighting between Israel and Hamas.
At the meeting, held on November 17, 2025, all 13 members voted in favor of the proposal. No one voted against the resolution. China and Russia abstained.
However, the US and other countries are confident that Russia will not use its influence to undermine the resolution, which was voted by many countries.
Arab countries have expressed their willingness to send troops to Gaza, but this would require UN authorization.
The UN Security Council resolutions, which support Donald Trump’s plan to end the war, include various provisions.
The plan includes the creation of a group of people called the ‘Board of Peace’, with Trump as its chairman.
The UN resolution also authorizes the deployment of troops to Gaza to maintain peace, control the border, protect the population, and collect weapons from the area.
The ‘Board of Peace’ and these forces are expected to operate until the end of 2027.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas launched attacks on Israel, killing more than 1,200 people and kidnapping more than 200 others. Israel immediately launched a massive attack on the group, and so far, about 69,000 people have been killed.
