The Africa Cup of Nations, to be hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania, has been scheduled for the summer of 19 June to 18 July 2027.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF), which is well on its way to hosting the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), will host the tournament in the region for the first time in more than 50 years.
Ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco next month, CAF will announce the group stages for the next edition.
The ceremony, scheduled for 19 December 2025, will also officially announce the dates for the tournament, which used to be held at the beginning and end of the year to avoid clashing with other national team competitions, particularly those involving European players.
In addition, there are also the consequences of the 2021 World Cup being postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States.
The tournament, which will be the 36th and first to be hosted by three participating countries, is scheduled to take place from June 19 to July 18, 2027.
The qualifying rounds will take place between March and November 2026. The three host countries have already secured their spots.
The venues to be selected are Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Samia Suluhu Hassan Stadium, Dodoma Stadium and Amaan Stadium in Tanzania; Talanta Sports Stadium, Moi International, Bukhungu Stadium, Kipchoge Keino Stadium and Nyayo National Stadium in Kenya; and Hoima Sports Stadium, Akii Bua Stadium and Mandela National Stadium in Uganda.
