US President Donald Trump will host Cristiano Ronaldo at the White House on Tuesday, a week after the player said he wanted to meet with the leader for talks.
It was announced on Monday that Ronaldo would visit the United States as part of a delegation accompanying Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman to meet with President Trump.
Speaking about the visit, Trump said, “It will be more than a meeting. We will pay tribute to Saudi Arabia and the Crown Prince.”
US newspaper MS NOW reported that three White House officials had approved Cristiano Ronaldo’s visit, which will follow that of FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
Ronaldo is one of the players who will participate in the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
In a recent interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo said he would like to meet Trump and discuss world peace, as they have a lot in common.
He said, “He is one of the people who can change or help the world. That is my number one goal: to meet Trump and talk about world peace.”
He added, “If you make it possible, he is someone I would like to sit down with.”
Ronaldo last played on US soil in 2014, while in 2016 he appeared there after winning the European Championship with Portugal.
