President Kagame arrives in Guinea-Conakry

President Paul Kagame on November 11, 2025 began a two-day working visit to Guinea-Conakry.

President Kagame and Mamadi Doumbouya of Guinea are expected to launch a major iron ore mining project, the ‘Simandou Iron Ore Project’.

The Simandou mines in southeastern Guinea are home to the world’s largest iron ore reserves. Experts estimate that they contain between three and four billion tons.

The project is expected to be completed by 2030, with the Simandou Mountains producing 120 million tons of iron ore per year.

On November 12, President Kagame and Doumbouya will also officially launch the TAS (Transform Africa Summit) to discuss how to accelerate Africa’s development.

At the Smart Africa Alliance Summit, President Kagame and other attendees will discuss the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to innovate and bring about change in Africa and the world at large.

Leaders and innovators will discuss the use of AI to advance Africa’s economy, strengthen governance, and boost innovation.
