The AFC/M23 coalition fighting the Democratic Republic of Congo’s government has announced that it has faced drone attacks by the country’s military coalition in Masisi territory in North Kivu province.
AFC/M23 spokesman Lawrence Kanyuka said on the afternoon of November 11, 2025, that “the Kinshasa government coalition continues to carry out attacks in densely populated areas in Masisi territory, using drones.”
Kanyuka continued that “AFC/M23 is doing its best to defend civilians who would be attacked by the Kinshasa forces.”
AFC/M23 deputy director for political and diplomatic affairs, Bertrand Bisimwa, said that although the DRC government claims in the media that it wants peace, its actions show that it wants war.
Bissimwa, who has been in Doha talks since last week, indicated that the AFC/M23 delegation is still waiting for the arrival of the DRC government so that both sides can take further steps towards peace.
The government of Qatar recently announced that the AFC/M23 and the DRC government will sign draft peace agreements in five stages, after a long period of disagreement between the two sides on issues including a ceasefire and the way to control some parts of the country.
