Rwanda International Footballer Steve Rubanguka Retires After 11-Year Career

Steve Rubanguka, formerly of Al-Najoom Club in Saudi Arabia’s Second Division, has announced his retirement from professional football through a social media post.

The 29-year-old, who spent 11 years playing professionally, explained that his decision was not prompted by any negative experience but by a desire to explore new opportunities.

“I have decided to close this chapter of my life. Not out of dislike, but because something new and positive has begun,” Rubanguka shared.

He thanked the football community for their support over the years and reflected on the lessons the sport has given him: “Football taught me discipline, patience, and other experiences I will never forget.”

Rubanguka also expressed pride in representing his country and extended his gratitude to coaches, agents, and teammates at every club he played for.

Over his career, Rubanguka featured for several clubs across both Asia and Europe, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and professionalism.
