French President Emmanuel Macron received world leaders at the presidential palace in Paris on Wednesday.
A number of African presidents are among those attending the two-day 8th edition of the Paris Peace Forum. Those present include Togo’s President Faure Gnassingbé, Ghana’s John Dramani Mahama, Liberia’s Joseph Boakai, and Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
With numerous global crises and rising conflicts, this year’s forum is focused on the theme: “New Coalitions for Peace, People and the Planet.”
The event brings together more than 300 influential figures from governments, major international bodies, private sector leaders, civil society groups, and academics.
Some of the main discussions will center on preventing conflicts, promoting peace, protecting democracy, and maintaining information integrity in the digital age.
Delegates will also examine the need to invest in children as a key driver of development, how artificial intelligence can support peace and inclusive economic growth, and ways to scale up climate solutions.
This year’s gathering will additionally mark the 10-year anniversary of the Paris Climate Agreement, with hopes of renewing momentum ahead of COP30 in Belém.
