No story of Nigeria’s progress can be told without acknowledging the sacrifices and resilience of women, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said, stressing that they have been central to nation building from independence till today.
The President made these remarks at the 9th Edition of the Voice of Women Conference and Awards (VOW2025), held Thursday in Abuja. In his message, he praised women for their enduring contributions through history and assured them that his administration remains committed to creating more opportunities under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Represented by the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim, Tinubu emphasized that Nigerian women, whether as guardians of families or as innovators and entrepreneurs, are the backbone of national progress and must be empowered to shape the country’s future.
“Our ever supportive and resilient Nigerian women, as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I salute the 9th Edition of the Voice of Women Conference, taking place as we approach Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary. It is a reminder that the history of our nation is incomplete without the strength of her women, With this year’s theme, ‘Nigerian Women and the Power of Collective Action,’ your voices remain the heartbeat of our nation, undaunted, unyielding, and rising to shape a future of fairness and progress under the Renewed Hope Agenda.” Tinubu said.
In his goodwill message, Vice President Kashim Shettima echoed the President’s sentiments, describing Nigerian women as the backbone of national resilience and the vanguard of the nation’s future. He noted that women have consistently played vital roles in peace, unity, and development, often without due recognition.
“The theme, ‘Nigerian Women and the Power of Collective Action,’ is both timely and timeless, reminding us that women are the backbone of our nation’s resilience and the vanguard of its future,” Shettima said.
