President Bola Ahmed Tinubu likened the economic hardship faced by Nigerians in recent years to the “pain of a painful surgery,” while assuring citizens that the nation is now on the path to recovery and growth. He made this statement during the coronation of the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, held at Mapo Hall in Ibadan on Friday.
Speaking before an audience of governors, traditional rulers, legislators, and senior federal officials, Tinubu admitted the difficulties caused by the reforms introduced since he took office.
“To many of you here present, today I am honoured and I am very proud to give you the cheering news that the economy has turned the corner. There is a bright light at the end of the tunnel. Your suffering is a pain, a pain of a painful surgery, but it is now returned to the moment of growth and prosperity that awaits us ahead,” the president said.
He went on to praise Nigerians for their resilience, patience, and endurance, stressing that the reforms were necessary to stabilize the economy and provide a lasting foundation for sustainable development.
