Senior secondary school students in Nigeria will now have the opportunity to study Mandarin, as the Chinese language has been formally included in the national curriculum.
The disclosure came on Tuesday from the Secretary of Education for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Danlami Hayyo, during the launch of the 14th Chinese Corner at Government Secondary School, Tudun Wada, Abuja.
The Chinese Corner program, in collaboration with the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, offers students access to both educational and cultural tools to learn Mandarin and gain insight into Chinese traditions.
Hayyo applauded the addition of Mandarin as an important move move, emphasizing the language’s growing importance worldwide in trade, education, and tourism.
