Utah Man Arrested in Connection with Charlie Kirk Assassination, Trump Confirms

A major breakthrough has been made in the investigation into the assassination of Charlie Kirk, as President Donald Trump announced Friday that the suspected gunman has been captured. The killing had sparked fresh concerns about rising political violence across the United States.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect in custody is 22 year old Tyler Robinson from Utah, according to an official who requested anonymity because they were not cleared to discuss the ongoing case.

The FBI and the Justice Department have yet to issue a statement, though officials in Utah scheduled a press conference for later Friday.

The arrest follows a nationwide alert earlier in the day, when federal and state investigators released new photos of the alleged shooter in a plea for public assistance, a move that suggested uncertainty over the suspect’s location at the time.
