President Donald Trump has called on Somalis living in the United States to go back to where they came from because he doesn’t want them in this country.
President Trump made the announcement on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, after a Cabinet meeting he chaired.
He told reporters that Somalis should go back home, stressing that Somalia has become a bad country.
He said, “I don’t want them (Somali immigrants) in our country, to be honest. One might say that’s not politically correct, but I don’t care. I don’t want them in our country. There’s a reason their country is not good, their country is bad, I don’t want them in our country. I can say that about other countries as well.”
He continued by saying, “Somalia is a country, you know, they have nothing. They’re killing each other.”
In this interview, Trump attacked Ilhan Omar, who made history by becoming the first Somali-American congresswoman
He said the woman was “always being followed, and I hate everyone, and I think she’s incompetent and unqualified.”
Trump’s comments come as U.S. immigration officials are preparing a sweeping crackdown on Somalis living in Minnesota to deport them.
The crackdown is reportedly targeting Minneapolis and St. Paul, which are home to an estimated 80,000 Somalis.
Trump has been a vocal critic of immigration, but his attacks have intensified in recent days after two U.S. soldiers were shot dead by an Afghan immigrant.
