The draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, 2026, was held in Washington, DC, United States of America on Friday.

The tournament will be played for the first time by 48 teams, divided into 12 groups of four teams each.

The host countries were in the first group, while the other 39 will be divided into four groups of 12 teams, based on the FIFA rankings of November 19, 2025.

No group will have more than one team from the same continent, except for those from the European Football Association (UEFA), which will be represented by 16 teams, but no more than two teams in each group.

The team drawn between Denmark, North Macedonia, Czech Republic and Ireland will go to Group A, the team drawn between Italy, Wales, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Northern Ireland will go to Group B.

FIFA has set two routes for the teams to go through once they have progressed through the groups, up to the semi-finals, with Spain and Argentina in the top five going in separate routes, while France in third and England in fourth will do the same.
