A Nigerian lady trapped in Libya has made an appeal to the Nigerian government, including the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri, begging for immediate help to return home, explaining serious threats to her life.
The cry for help came in a video shared on social media on Tuesday morning, where the woman, visibly distressed cried and pleaded for assistance.
Speaking in both English and Yoruba, she explained that her situation had become unbearable due to her undocumented status in Libya.
“If help does not come soon, I may be arrested by the Libyan authorities and sent to prison,” she said, describing the constant fear that shadows her daily life.
She revealed that Libyan security forces frequently raid her area, and being caught would mean instant imprisonment.
“I am hiding now, but every time security operatives come, I fear they will find me. I need to return to Nigeria before it is too late,” she added.
Her heartbreaking video has spread across social media, drawing attention to the need of undocumented Nigerians in Libya and fueling calls for swift intervention by NiDCOM and the Nigerian Foreign Ministry.
Although Nigerian authorities have in the past carried out evacuation and repatriation missions for citizens stranded in Libya, her plea shows that many still remain in desperate need of urgent rescue.
