A 39 year old hospital cleaner has been arrested in Mpumalanga province after police discovered her carrying a plastic bag filled with human placentas.
According to authorities, Rose Mnisi, employed in a maternity ward, was stopped during a routine patrol in Lydenburg after security officers alerted police that she was allegedly looking for buyers of human tissue. “When approached, the woman was found with human remains and confirmed to be a cleaner in the maternity ward,” police reported.
Mnisi appeared in court on Thursday facing charges of unlawful possession of human tissues. The bag and its contents have been taken for forensic testing. She is scheduled to return to court next month for a bail hearing, with investigators indicating more charges could be added as the case unfolds.
