CAMEROON: Samuel Eto’o Secures Second Term as Cameroonian Football Boss Amid Controversy

Samuel Eto’o was confirmed unopposed on Saturday as president of the Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot).

His second term was ratified during a General Assembly held in Cameroon’s central region, where he received all 85 votes cast.

The country’s education ministry, which supervises the sports sector, had opposed the election and even called for the Assembly to be canceled.

Protests also erupted outside the venue, with critics accusing Eto’o of mismanagement.

The former Barcelona striker faces allegations of mishandling Cameroonian football affairs and has been held responsible by some for the national team’s poor performance.

Opposition to his leadership intensified after the Indomitable Lions failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, fueling public debate over the state of football in the country.
