Rwandan Army and Police personnel returning from Mozambique commended

The Chief of Defence Staff, Maj Gen Alex Kagame and the Rwanda National Police Deputy Inspector General for Operations (DIGP) Vincent Sano, received a team of soldiers and police officers who have been on a peacekeeping mission in Cabo Delgado Province, Mozambique for a year.

The Rwandan security forces, led by Major General Emmy K Ruvusha, arrived in Kigali on Monday, October 27, 2025.

Maj Gen Alex Kagame commended them for their dedication and professionalism, urging them to continue to uphold their values.

Since 2021, Rwandan security forces (RSF) have been in Mozambique in operations to eradicate the terrorists who had ravaged Cabo Delgado Province in the north of the country.

Since then, the Rwanda Defence Forces and the Rwanda National Police have made significant contributions in driving out the terrorists from various areas, restoring life in all areas, and those who had fled have returned to their homes.

On August 27, 2025, Rwanda and Mozambique signed new agreements on security and trade cooperation.

Those who returned were replaced by a team led by Maj Gen Vincent Gatama, which will continue to participate in counter-terrorist operations.
