Overnight, Russia carried out one of its heaviest bombardments of the year on Ukraine, as stalled diplomatic efforts struggle to bring an end to the conflict now in its fourth year.
According to Ukrainian officials on Thursday, Russia launched 574 drones along with 40 ballistic and cruise missiles at various targets.
The attacks were concentrated mainly on western Ukraine, where large portions of military aid from Kyiv’s Western partners are believed to be stored and distributed.
Military authorities reported that air defence systems intercepted most of the incoming weapons, but several still hit their targets in different parts of the country.
The strikes damaged buildings, killed at least one person, and left around 22 others injured.
