Paris Saint-Germain pulled off a thrilling late comeback before taking the win against Tottenham in a penalty shootout to claim the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday, marking their fifth trophy of 2025.
Nuno Mendes fired home the decisive spot kick in the shootout, sealing a turnaround that seemed improbable when Spurs led 2-0 in the 85th minute of normal time in the annual clash between the reigning Champions League and Europa League winners.
Lee Kang-in sparked PSG’s fightback with a powerful strike into the bottom corner, and substitute Gonçalo Ramos netted the equalizer in the fourth minute of stoppage time to level the match at 2-2.
Tottenham still looked poised for an upset after taking a 2-0 lead in the shootout following Vitinha’s opening miss for PSG. But Micky van de Ven and Mathys Tel both missed for Spurs, while PSG coolly converted four consecutive penalties, Mendes smashing in the last to seal victory.
