President Paul Kagame held talks with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, which focused on promoting bilateral relations and cooperation.

The talks took place on November 4, 2025, when the Head of State was attending the World Summit for Social Development being held in Doha.

Rwanda and Qatar have strong cooperative relations in various sectors, including investment, tourism and transport.

This relationship reinforces Rwanda’s vision of promoting a diplomatic partnership based on mutual respect, peace and development.

The two countries also have a partnership in the field of air transport, where Qatar Airways is expected to acquire a 49% stake in RwandAir in the near future.

In addition to RwandAir, Qatar also has a 60% stake in the Bugesera Airport project. It is reported that it paid $780 million for its construction, which, when fully operational, will be able to handle 14 million passengers per year.
