Patrick Awuah Jr, born in Accra, Ghana, is one African whose impact continues to shape the future of young leaders across the continent. After earning a successful career at Microsoft in the United States, he chose to leave a comfortable life behind and return home to Ghana with a purpose to reform education and build leaders Africa could be proud of.
In 2002, Patrick founded Ashesi University, one of Africa’s most respected higher institutions today. His goal was simple but bold: to create a university that focuses not just on academics, but on leadership, critical thinking, ethics, and responsibility. He believed that Africa did not lack talent, only opportunities to shape it. Through his dream, thousands of young Africans now have the kind of education that empowers them to solve problems, innovate, and contribute to society.
