Over Fifty Pilgrims Stranded in Ndola After Years-Long Journey to Jerusalem

Police in Ndola have taken into custody more than fifty members of a religious sect, now being held at Kansenshi Police Station for their own safety.

The group began its trek in Mazabuka back in 1999 with the goal of reaching Jerusalem on foot, but their journey has come to a halt in Ndola.

Ndola District Commissioner Precious Njekwa explained that the group has no fixed habitation and keeps moving from place to place. She added that they are running low on food supplies and urgently require humanitarian aid.

Members of the sect say they follow a deity called Sunni, who, they believe, gifted them a special language known as Kafo, a tongue understood only among themselves.Their leader, Ronny Mweemba, insists it was their god who commanded them to embark on a spiritual walk to Mount Zion in Israel starting from Zambia.

Authorities are now reviewing the case inorder to decide the next line of action, which may involve providing assistance or other forms of intervention.
